On this happy day we got married at Nailcote Hall.

We had been together since 1988 and the years after uni were flying by as we started to find our way, Ness climbing the ladder at work, and I combined work with a masters degree. I finally "popped the question" in the summer of 1995. We were walking in Preston Park in Brighton, I remember it well. I wasn't particularly prepared. I just knew the time was right. It was a day where I felt a sudden kind of clarity, knowing where you wanted your life to head. If I had been more organised I would have prepared an engagement ring, thought about where and how I was going to propose, and so on. But it was far more natural than that. We had been sat in our flat in Brighton, it was a sunny day outside, and looking at Ness I felt those butterflies all over again - we had been together for seven years by this time. Felt like a young lover (I guess I still was back then!) We went for our walk in the park and when I felt we had come to a suitably "romantic" spot among the trees I asked Ness if she would marry me. Ness then also made me do the "proper" thing and ask her parents for her hand in marriage and an opportunity was engineered where I would take Boss Hogg out for drink somewhere. He said "no!" but then winked and added that I had taken my time and it was about time that I did the right thing! :-) It took us another two years to finally get a venue, a date, etc. Our wedding day was one of the happiest days of our lives - happy memories of dancing the whole evening like there was no tomorrow, floating on air.
